Apatride Network joined an online call yesterday with the UNHCR High Commissioner, using the opportunity to highlight the continued invisibility of statelessness and the urgent need for stronger cooperation between UN agencies and ground-level expertise to address it.As a practical and impact-driven organisation, Apatride Network also underscored concrete avenues for collaboration. This included scaling the established good practice of UNHCR in removing administrative barriers to the employment of stateless people across the UN system, as well as strengthening targeted media engagement. Such efforts can be significantly enhanced through closer cooperation between UN agencies and stateless- and refugee-led organisations (SLOs/RLOs). As a case in point, this kind of practical cooperation can help raise awareness of recent EBA policy developments and advance financial inclusion. It was encouraging to hear the High Commissioner welcome our input, and we look forward to the opportunity of strengthening cooperation with UNHCR and other UN agencies to deliver practical outcomes that meaningfully and concretely improve the lives of refugees and stateless people. ...
