In May of 2022, UNHCR hosted a Global Statelessness Retreat in Geneva, Switzerland. Apatride Network was there, among a small group of stakeholders, to provide input on IBelong campaign and its evolution into the new Global Alliance to End Statelessness. Today, Apatride Network participated in a call organised by the World Bank-UNHCR Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement (JDC). The call focused on knowledge exchange of experts that specialise in forced #displacement and #statelessness. JDC also used the opportunity to present its 2024-2027 strategic plan, emphasizing a need to "enhance the ability of stakeholders to make timely and evidence-informed decisions that can improve the lives of the affected people."We used the opportunity of the call to highlight the need of centering people with direct experience of statelessness and forced displacement in any data collection and the resulting dialogues. We still have a long to achieve this crucial piece of the puzzle. Nonetheless, progress is being gradually made to allow ground-level expertise of RLOs and SLOs.
